Technology and skincare are going hand in hand nowadays. NuFace has devices that use microcurrents to help tone and tighten your face. I’ll give you my honest review on NuFace here. We’ll dig into my first 30 days using the device, but first, let’s dive in to what NuFace actually does.
How does NuFace work?
You use your device 5-6 times a week for the first 30 days. After that you can scale it down. I personally used it every day (website says it’s safe to do) because I wanted more optimal results. NuFace uses microcurrents to tighten and lift your skin. I like to think of it as I’m giving my skin a workout.
What do microcurrents do to the skin?
For this, I’m letting NuFace do the talking. You can reach this at their Learn section. Science is pretty damn cool.

Does the NuFace hurt?
I would side with mostly no. If it stings then you probably didn’t put enough of the primer on. I notice when I do my neck that sometimes I don’t go far enough with the primer and too far with the device so it’ll have a little sting. But it’s honestly like a small rubber band. A paper cut hurts more.
Where can I buy a NuFace device?
You can buy NuFace from so many different stores! I bought a set at Dermstore, so I’ll link that below, but you can also just get the device on its own. My personal favorite is Macy’s because there’s always some type of discount with them. They are a bit of a splurge! So snagging one on sale is key. Here are the following retailers:
- NuFace Trinity Set – NuFace, Macy’s, DermStore, Nordstrom, and BluMercury
- NuFace Trinity – NuFace, Macy’s, DermStore, Sephora, and Ulta
NuFace Trinity
The Trinity is what I have. On the NuFace website, the Trinity is defined as an FDA cleared device to deliver professional micro currents at home. I got a kit from the Skin Store that had the Trinity and the attachments that come with it. The biggest difference between the Trinity and the Mini it the interchangeable attachments. The Trinity has attachments and the Mini is just the one. The Mini is also smaller than the Trinity. Depending on what type of results you want, that should help you determine which one fits your needs. I really wanted all 3, so that’s why I did mine.
NuFace Gel
So I’ve tried two. I tried the normal gel and the one that has an applicator on it. Personally, I like the applicator. Just makes it a little bit easier and kind of streamlines the whole process. Also, I’ve heard that some people skip on getting the NuFace brand and use aloe vera buuuuut I wanted to stick with just the NuFace brand for the best results. According to NuFace: “Gel Primer ensures maximum microcurrent conductivity and allows your device to easily glide across the skin for optimum results. Gel Primer is paraben-free, oil-free & fragrance-free. The built-in brush is great for optimal mess-free application.” So yeah, use the NuFace brand primer.
You can grab the gels at the following retailers:
- Normal Gel – NuFace, Macy’s, Sephora, SkinStore, Ulta, Nordstrom
- 24K Gold Gel w/ Brush – NuFace, Macy’s, SkinStore, Ulta, Nordstrom
And now for the results…
NuFace Before & After – 30 days
Day 1 was December 1, 2020. By the way, none of these pictures have any type of filter on them. They’re the raw photos straight from my iPhone. I tried to do as similar of lighting as I could too.
Here you can scroll through my before pictures:

Then this was a fun on one on Instagram. I had SO many people respond to this story. Let’s just say *spoiler alert* this sh*t works.

And here’s after 30 days. The lighting in our apartment bathroom is horrible so I did what I could here lol. Please excuse the chapped lips too fml.

And here’s a side by side. Again, excuse the lighting in this lovely bathroom.

So, here’s my NuFace honest review.
If you have the means to purchase this baby, do it. It does take up about 10-15 minutes of your AM or PM routine depending on when you do it. But I kind of found the days that I did my NuFace to be therapeutic. I turn on whatever podcast or just stand there in silence.
You can very much see on the before and after that there are more contours in my face. I also feel like it really helped with my smile lines. I have two dimples (I guess?) that I know won’t go away but I had a distinct smile line that I always noticed even when I wasn’t smiling.
As always, feel free to comment, email or DM me on Instagram for any questions you might have!
